Martha Stewart has a clear medium that you can paint over the gold, then place in a cold oven, turn it to 375 and then turn off after 30 minutes and allow the mug to cool in the oven. This makes the paint more permanent. You can also skip the spray paint and use her paint and bake it.

It is called Martha Stewart Multi Purpose acrylic. Michaels and Joann both sell it as well as Amazon. The clear is Clear Medium

you can buy the dehydrated tiny marshmallows and omit the tooth pick, but tie a mini candy cane in the bow. I love the light bulb idea!

They sell enamel paints at craft stores like Michaels that you paint on and then bake; so it's food and microwave safe. They come in bottles just like acrylic paints, just check the label before you buy!
LadyInKY (4 years ago)
I would fill them with candy. Possibly layering a selection of Christmas M&M's, with those small white Mints; separating the red and green M&M's to layer above and below the white ones. You could also use Skittles, Reeses Pieces, Jelly Bellys, "Runts" or use a colorful mix of hard Christmas Candy.

Sharrah and Greyson, loving all your DIY videos! They are so creative and clever. Great ideas! All of them really. This idea is pretty and one could make it special by personalising it with monogrammed initials. I would stick with an edible filling for the bulbs maybe mint candies.
Chase (4 years ago)
Spraying a triangle or circle on the middle of the bulb would help relate it to the mugs- and look even better! :)
Gayle Kiker (4 years ago)
What a cute idea. Where do you find the light bulb jars?
Shelley Plant (2 years ago)
Michaels craft store has them
PhenomenallyFlyDiva4 (2 years ago)
Are they regular light bulbs, and if so, you're absolutely certain they're food-safe? Thanks for sharing. Blessed be!
Eva Tovar (3 years ago)
+Marie You can definitely order these sorts of things online, they are not that expensive. 😊
+Robeson DIY I wish that Michael's and/or Hobby Lobby would open stores in Australia!!
