Breathtakingly Beautiful Japanese Tiny House on Wheels

34437 ratings | 2058865 views
It’s possible that this is one of the smallest homes that we have visited on the show so far and yet without doubt it is one of the most spectacular in it’s design. Japan is a country already world-famous for it’s small space designs, and so it should come as no surprise that when Japanese master-craftsman Tagami Haruhiko turned his attention towards the tiny house movement, amazing things would happen. I would really like to know if this can actually be a way of life where we dont have pay enormous amount2 buy land or big houses that we hardly stay inside i think adapting this way of living can benefit the environment and stop the deforestation of precious forest and the global warming of our planet peace to all who love our mother earth and aremaking a difference to change the world to a better place.

Comment from London, I love the design. I am going to borrow this design, However, I am going to add a toilet & shower room. The Japanese are experts at compact design.

I'd like less questioning/commenting more listening. The home owners must have some nice stories we didn't get to hear because if this question/answer format. 😶

I have watched this three times over the months. Each time I want to see it again. I learn something every time. I toured the whole US in a Van like theirs. Their trailer looks big to me.

so cool to find this program on youtube.  Just love the whole concept and that Kiwi accent is such a pleasure to hear in a world of so many accents.

Love it! Japan has typhoons every year. How has this tiny house survived these storms/winds?
Isosceles Kramer (1 month ago)
Not a fan of this house. This is almost a case study of how tight two people can live together. Being on wheels, the design had to be low, flat and small, I realize that.
Mr. Tagami where are you? You're amazing! :)

With all the windows, what about the privacy when they are in a more public area ? Like when they are dressing or sleeping or using the toilet ? Are there curtains or anything ?

Wow!!!! Amazing design. A work of art. If I ever built a tiny home, I would make something similar. Thanks for showing us.

Very beautiful little house, but it would drive me crazy having to make up the bed area every night and then put it away the next morning. And the way the fridge is hidden away would be annoying too.

You know what a $30,000 tiny home on wheels the size of a car-parking space is called? A travel trailer. Kudos for the beauty and craftsmanship, although I think it might be a better bargain to go with a fiber-glass factory-built travel trailer. Plus I'm not so sure about regularly using hot springs for bathing unless they use some sort of soap that can be broken down by the environment, but maybe that's the case. Or maybe Japanese hot spring facilities treat the water before it's recycled back into the environment?
Kaze (1 month ago)
Hot spring is nature bath. You don't have to clean it, the dirt you wash off goes back to nature.

sally smith (2 months ago)
I've seen a lot of these tiny house videos and this is the only one I absolutely do NOT like. There is nothing comfortable or homely or livable (in my opinion) about this thing. It's a way to small, over- priced wooden box.
sally smith (1 month ago)
+Kaze I know what "tiny" is...this goes waaay beyond TINY.
Kaze (1 month ago)
Complaining it's way too small? LOL. It's suppose to be "tiny". Tiny in Japan is different than tiny in America. What you consider tiny house in America is standard size house in Japan. Japanese people rarely have big houses because it's an island with limited space and it's overcrowded.

Thank you so much for sharing your lovely home. I am so inspired and happy to see such simplistic beauty.

I love this home, although I don’t think I would be able to live in it personally, especially with my husband. I love the idea of reducing my possessions (and wardrobe!) to this extent though. It seems to suit quiet, intentional, considerate living.
Kate Kursive (2 months ago)
When one knows oneself clearly and knows exactly what they want, one doesn't need much else to be happy. Amazing episode!

You forgot to ask the paper on the door. That's Izumo Taisha Grand Shrine charm which is also downsized spiritual feature that every japanese house owns as "kamidana"

"What happens when Japanese design meets the Tiny House movement?" - FYI Japan invented the tiny house movement not your show or any other.
Kaze (1 month ago)
So true. Many people in Japan live in Tiny houses because of the limited space of the islands. One of my teacher is Japanese and he recently came from Japan and we took him around town to show him around. And he commented that it's so spacious. And we all were thinking how crowded our area has become.

Watching this again, I love this second to the hand built one in the woods. Third, the little trailer in the woods which is full of wood sculture.
