I have seen many videos on people attempting to cut their hair themselves which usually turns into a disaster. In this video, I share how to remove those horrid weight lines that you see when you attempt to cut your own hair or on a client in a salon.

I did 6 years service and resigned shortly after 9/11.

Could you make a tutorial on how to cut the top and front when they grow out too long? Everyone show how to cut the back and sides but no video for the front and top (not crew cut). Thanks for the very ggo instruction for using the scissor.
I watched one video and have been cutting my hair since for around 9 months now and it’s been looking great - and I’ve been getting compliments. Cut your own hair it’s cheaper and you get it down by the 3rd time or so
Scissor over comb is the hardest thing for me to do when I blend my own hair. I cut my own hair for two reasons most barbers in my area do not know how to cut female hair. Secondly a simple taper is not worth $25 its not in my budget.
Dear God where was this video 30 mins ago when I did my 6 year olds hair!! And how the HELL DO YOU THE THE EARS!! AAAHH! I blame my brother, he was supposed to do it. SHITE!. I only did it so he wouldn't cut it his self... again. Sweet Jesus, the struggle is real! Totally watch your video again of I EVER attempt this.
Great tutorial video. I do my own haircut on occasion and just use a longer attachment like a 5 or 6 on the sides and back and then use the thinning shears to blend the weight line as best as possible using two mirrors in the bathroom. Hey, it's free, so, you can't expect perfection! I do get compliments though...takes practice.
You're a life saver. I sort of screwed up my boyfriend's hair, (though I did a better job than he usually does, and he thought it was adequate😂) because he has to cut his hair every two weeks into a high and tight for the Air Force, and there's no way we can afford to go to a barber every time. So thank you, it will go a lot better next time.
the salon guy I need your help fast. I went to get a haircut and I wanted a high fade and the barber went from zero all the way to the top of my hairline and now it looks like a Mohawk and the thing that sucks is that there is going to be a wedding in 2 days what can I do about it!!!
the barber cut my hair with a 3 guard round the back and sides and a scissor cut on top and left a weight line near the top on one side, can I go back and get them to blend it in or will they need to redo the sides on a shorter guard and then blend it?
I cant find anyone who can do a good haircut on my husband. His hairs stands up on the sides way too much. Im thinking that the best thing to do is just to embrace those sides that insist on standing up and create a hair cut accordingly. What do you suggest please?
i CUT MY OWN HAIR IN MY BATHROOM HAVE BEEN DOING IT FOR 20 YEARS FADE CHAMP NEVER HAD THEM LINES DUNNO HOW THEY MAKE THEM I HAVE WAHL AND ANDIS CLIPPERS THEY MUST HAVE HAD SHITTY CLIPPERS?? BUT I LIKE THAT DOLL I WONDERED HOW THEY TAUGHT IN BARBER SCHOOL I TAUGHT MYSELF HOW TO CUT HAVE DONE OLD MEN LITTLE KIDS ALL AGES WHITE BLACK NEVER HAD A COMPLAINT ALL SMILES HERE BUDDY IM A NATURAL
quickest most efficient barber method would be fading up to 1 1/2, or 2 (plastic guard or metal blade) and clipper over comb for blending. if you use thinning shears where the hair isn't properly blended, some hairs may start to pop out prematurely when the hair grows out
It's sad but I paid 14 grand for a Cosmetology license that in reality, only prepared me for State Board. Of course I didn't realize that until I went to work in a Salon. As far as Clipper Cuts, that was something I struggled with for years and still do sometimes depending on the head shape/hairlines of certain Clients. Depressing because I just learned more from this video than the 11 months I had in Hair school all those years ago. 😳
Ah, now I know how to call the disaster that happened when I tried to give myself an undercut. Apart from the fact that it's completely uneven and let's not talk about the back. Better leave it to the pros, not in the least because they can actually see what they're doing.
I just got my hair cut fucked and i got a weight line i have a 1 LITERALLY ALL OVER MY HEAD i came in with plenty of hair I asked for a low fade zero but the just gave me a 1 '😭😭 i need a better barber man
Clear instruction. So many tutorials don't explain what blade size they're using. Others seem to think that speaking very loudly will help us to understand better. Clear calm explanation of every step works for me every time. thanks:)
you explained this for cosmos barbers know this. for some reason females are so ignorant to clippers no offense ladies but idk why you guys don't understand this. barber here. fresh out of school so I'm still learning to.
Thanks for showing us how to get rid of that weight line. I am trying to conquer the scissor over comb method. I am a 2 year cosmetologist and when you are taught in school to use the guards and then shown in the real world scissor or clipper over comb...one would be like, huh? I am still learning and getting more and more comfortable doing the method you have shown in this video. Thanks Steve!
