I have a question what to do when I ruin my sides with a comp I end up having spots 😭😭😭😭😭 help should I fix it with clippers
Juan Marquez (1 month ago)
So clipper over comb or sissors over comb? Do they affect the hair different?
TheSalonGuy (1 month ago)
Scissor over comb is softer and grows out softer.
S-Curve Barbershop (1 month ago)
Thanks for sharing your tips! I've doing this in my haircuts and it does make a difference-- especially in straight hair.

Could you make a tutorial on how to cut the top and front when they grow out too long? Everyone show how to cut the back and sides but no video for the front and top (not crew cut). Thanks for the very ggo instruction for using the scissor.

I watched one video and have been cutting my hair since for around 9 months now and it’s been looking great - and I’ve been getting compliments. Cut your own hair it’s cheaper and you get it down by the 3rd time or so
Gervan Simon (1 month ago)
& it's also really therapeutic to do :-) (once you actually know exactly what you're doing of course!)

I cut my own hair because it's more economical, and i tried a fade, and it came it decent but I have a slight weight line between my 1 - 2 taper. Thank you for the tips.

Thank you for showing several different ways to fix a problem. I especially like the texturizing shears/over comb. Very cool.

I love your videos for hair cutting techniques.. Maybe I am going to be a salon guy one day in the future xD
Morai모라이 Ordell (5 months ago)
That happen had a lot to me in beauty school lol thanks. Your video is great.!!
Adrienne Robinson (5 months ago)
I used the same technique just yesterday on a client
Chris Johnson (5 months ago)
Scissor over comb is the hardest thing for me to do when I blend my own hair. I cut my own hair for two reasons most barbers in my area do not know how to cut female hair. Secondly a simple taper is not worth $25 its not in my budget.

Came here 'cos I tried to do a skin-fade cut myself from an online video tutorial....with A BEARD TRIMMER!
Isai (6 months ago)
That was a terrible fade also if you did that technique on a human and not a doll head it would look terrible because of how you’re doing it
TheSalonGuy (6 months ago)
I’ve done it on plenty of heads. Browse my channel

Dear God where was this video 30 mins ago when I did my 6 year olds hair!! And how the HELL DO YOU THE THE EARS!! AAAHH! I blame my brother, he was supposed to do it. SHITE!. I only did it so he wouldn't cut it his self... again. Sweet Jesus, the struggle is real! Totally watch your video again of I EVER attempt this.
Greek610 (10 months ago)
Great tutorial video. I do my own haircut on occasion and just use a longer attachment like a 5 or 6 on the sides and back and then use the thinning shears to blend the weight line as best as possible using two mirrors in the bathroom. Hey, it's free, so, you can't expect perfection! I do get compliments though...takes practice.

You're a life saver. I sort of screwed up my boyfriend's hair, (though I did a better job than he usually does, and he thought it was adequate😂) because he has to cut his hair every two weeks into a high and tight for the Air Force, and there's no way we can afford to go to a barber every time. So thank you, it will go a lot better next time.

the salon guy I need your help fast. I went to get a haircut and I wanted a high fade and the barber went from zero all the way to the top of my hairline and now it looks like a Mohawk and the thing that sucks is that there is going to be a wedding in 2 days what can I do about it!!!

liam clark (1 year ago)
the barber cut my hair with a 3 guard round the back and sides and a scissor cut on top and left a weight line near the top on one side, can I go back and get them to blend it in or will they need to redo the sides on a shorter guard and then blend it?
Dana's #1 Fan (1 year ago)
*Thats why I cut both sides and back and keep the top long, gg*
Alex Kontos (1 year ago)
Crap.. use the thinning shears on the weight line then use scissor over comb.. ps make sure you use thinners all the way up to the smallest hair at the top for the most natural look..
Olin107 (1 year ago)
Where do I get your set ? i mean the trimmer etc. Hope you answer ! Thanks

Burrito Sabanero (1 year ago)
I cant find anyone who can do a good haircut on my husband. His hairs stands up on the sides way too much. Im thinking that the best thing to do is just to embrace those sides that insist on standing up and create a hair cut accordingly. What do you suggest please?
TheSalonGuy (1 year ago)
+Burrito Sabanero either cut it short or grow it out
Antoine Simmons (1 year ago)
Scissor over comb?I don't see this in shops I frequent. Most of the clients are black. Is this useful for all hair types or just the type of hair illustrated in this videos?

I'm a barber and I just fucked up some kids hair so I told him i really need to go to the toilet and here I am in the toilet watching this video to unfuck up his hair
TheSalonGuy (1 year ago)
+Fizz Fuzz all poops matter. Now get back out their and hook him up!!
Bradley Gerdes (1 year ago)
quickest most efficient barber method would be fading up to 1 1/2, or 2 (plastic guard or metal blade) and clipper over comb for blending. if you use thinning shears where the hair isn't properly blended, some hairs may start to pop out prematurely when the hair grows out
Daisy Guerrero (1 year ago)
this helped so much! I just graduated cosmetology school and have been struggling with blending my smaller guards. thank you!

could you do a Benjamin Lasnier hair cut

Casey Harris (1 year ago)
It's sad but I paid 14 grand for a Cosmetology license that in reality, only prepared me for State Board. Of course I didn't realize that until I went to work in a Salon. As far as Clipper Cuts, that was something I struggled with for years and still do sometimes depending on the head shape/hairlines of certain Clients. Depressing because I just learned more from this video than the 11 months I had in Hair school all those years ago. 😳

TheSalonGuy (1 year ago)
Sorry to hear that happened to you, Casey. I'm glad that you found this video helpful, though!
AliceDiableaux (1 year ago)
Ah, now I know how to call the disaster that happened when I tried to give myself an undercut. Apart from the fact that it's completely uneven and let's not talk about the back. Better leave it to the pros, not in the least because they can actually see what they're doing.
Cutsbyant (1 year ago)
great tutorial.

I just got my hair cut fucked and i got a weight line i have a 1 LITERALLY ALL OVER MY HEAD i came in with plenty of hair I asked for a low fade zero but the just gave me a 1 '😭😭 i need a better barber man

The 31 dislikes must not be PROFESSIONAL groomer's...
Zam (1 year ago)
But you have given the customer a different haircut to fix the fade. This is often why people start DIY cutting.
Random VIDS (1 year ago)
exactly what i thought, the hairstyle is completely differend
Can you tell me how to get rid of clipper lines in a one guard buzz cut. Our stylist left my hubby's hair with a railroad track look today and I want to fix it myself. Thanks!
Adam Akbar (1 year ago)
where could you buy this dummy from ?
Fouf Cherie (1 year ago)
when you talk about the guards, are you talking in inches or in cm ?

+Fouf Cherie inch

+Evelin Caprirolo Maury thx so much
Zul Hafiz (2 years ago)
if not..just do clipper over comb
Mike Bakee (2 years ago)
Clear instruction. So many tutorials don't explain what blade size they're using. Others seem to think that speaking very loudly will help us to understand better. Clear calm explanation of every step works for me every time. thanks:)

Thank you, it's really help.. especially knowing what second scissor used for.
Rags Martel (2 years ago)
Thanks for the helpful video! Is the length on the top all the same, or does it get longer in places?
Eevee (2 years ago)
front of your head hair is longer than the back, so yes it's different
Johny Flynn (2 years ago)
best explained tutorial thank you good sir
Antoine Fuqua (2 years ago)
you explained this for cosmos barbers know this. for some reason females are so ignorant to clippers no offense ladies but idk why you guys don't understand this. barber here. fresh out of school so I'm still learning to.
DELC ROB (2 years ago)
He has the comb on top covering the line lol good try buddy but learn yourself and then teach people
Sexyheisenbeast (1 year ago)
D DOPE If you cut hair yourself you'd see that its actually fading the line, I've done it before with my own hair. It makes sense if you watch it once or twice
TheSalonGuy (2 years ago)
+D DOPE try watching the video

TheSalonGuy (2 years ago)
Aw thx. I was for about 8 years total with companies now I educate for myself ✂️
Christina L Hendricks (2 years ago)
Thanks for showing us how to get rid of that weight line.  I am trying to conquer the scissor over comb method.  I am a 2 year cosmetologist and when you are taught in school to use the guards and then shown in the real world scissor or clipper over comb...one would be like, huh? I am still learning and getting more and more comfortable doing the method you have shown in this video.  Thanks Steve!
TheSalonGuy (2 years ago)
Aw!!! Just practice in my opinion!!
Hey.aan (3 years ago)
OMG that beard. It looked EPIC!!!
Ronz Hallaz (3 years ago)
that is the best hairstyles I liked but I'm going to salon .. .the leddy and salon she don't know have cut my hair
Rai Castillo (3 years ago)
Or you could just angle the comb and do clipper over comb and forget the guard.
Grey Matters (2 years ago)
+Rai Castillo i think that's a more advanced technique for the more skilled barber/stylist.

does the hair grow back on those dolls
