Time lapse of home constructed start to finish

29217 ratings | 5236098 views
A time lapse project of a custom home built by Weaver Homes -- a division of Weaver Companies, Inc. Original footage was captured at 1 photo every 30 seconds over a 6 month period resulting in 45 days of capture and over 70,000 photos. Images we edited in Adobe Lightroom 3, combined in Quicktime Pro at 30 frames/sec and compiled in iMovie 11. Most clips were then sped up by 200-400% to produce this short movie. Enjoy!

Im sure this house, the pricing for it will be some where around 375,000 to 600,000. Just a guess really. but with the amount of the stone work on outside and just ball park of the sqft of the place. Im sure its around that.

Fucking YouTubers man. I'm English carpenter apprentice in Canada, there's nothing g wrong with wood as long as it's done right. Try footing the bill for damage to concrete houses when there's a problem and you'll soon want to have a wood frame. When the wind blows 200km/h it's not the wind that fucks things up it's the flying cars and ain't no brick work stopping that.

This house just screams Mid-West! I'm from the UK, so this style is a little strange to me, especially how it's quite common in the US to make a brand new house look like it's been there for some time. Looks great though!

Fake stone house. :)) Sincerity is important. But you cannot have all, isn't it? Big decent house. Traditional works fine. I like wood. Stone it's nice too. I like it is in nature. I'll give a 7 out of 10. (a relative opinion) :) I mutted the video.

Dumb Americans talking about oh I like in a 100yr home and my house is good . Umm no let’s start tearing it up piece by piece and watch how much rotten wood you will find , there’s a reason why you doors squeak when you closed them , there’s a reason why you have to push your front door with extra strength to open it . Your house is slowly dying ! There’s a reason why your roof is leaking every time a strong storm comes .

What is this, plywood? My house is 600 years old and made out of stone, bricks and a bit of concrete here and there only the roof is made out of wood but I mean big and fat chunks of wood, only thing done to it is a few cracks and scratches from earthquakes, no such thing as a tornado yet. I only see wooden houses in the high mountains of the alps.

These comments make me laugh from their ignorance from the states. For those who are forgieon, here are some pointers as your ignorance is forgiven as this isn't what you might be accustomed to. Plywood is strong... really strong. Stronger than using timber in many respects. It is cheap. It is sound and temperature insulating. It is, however, more susceptible to water damage. You don't really get a scale of the type of wood used. 2x8's (5cm x 20cm) and 2x12's (5cm x 30.5cm) make up a lot of the sturdy components and when properly anchored and turned on their side, it is amazing what they can do. Wood is cheaper and lighter than brick. It is easy and cheap to replace if damaged somehow. It also does not damage as easily in earthquakes and does much better if the foundation shifts than brick or fiberglass. This means you can build multiple layers without over-worrying about the weight. There is most likely insulation between the floors and most definitely inside the walls. Speaking of floors, the plywood would be the "subfloor". Often times there is another material put on top of it with a vapor barrior on top of that and the actual home flooring on top of that. The lowest level almost certainly has a vapor barrier and it is possible there is some between the floors as well. As for the foundation, I didn't see one to be honest, nor did a see anything installed to wick moisture away from the sublevel. This very much so would cause an issue. However, if this build did take six months as the video suggests, then by looking at the trees in the background it would appear that they live in the northern half of the USA. As such, taking in to account the frostline, the depth at which it is built as well as the type of dirt it looks like it is built in might be good enough to prevent the base of the house moving very much with a change in temperature or the weight of the house "settling" (something you also wouldn't have to worry about with a proper footing). Anyway, whether you know it or not, this is how houses are constructed in the US. Nothing really out of the ordinary (except maybe the surprising lack of a footing). It happens every day and done this way for almost all homes. It's just most people haven't crawled into their crawl space or seen a naked home to realize it. And for the record, tornados don't care what your house is made of and fires tend to destroy homes regardless of building material as well. A burnt out shell is worth as much as a completely burned down home. And very few fires start somewhere with a building structure, they start because someone dropped a cigarette or left a pot on too long or were unsafe with candles.

This house is beauty, but I'd not live in a wood house so big and less in a forest, because it can be destroyed easly with termites, forest fire, tornadoes and earthquakes. Earthquake specially by its structure, doesn't have supports and some parts are hanging in air. I prefer bicks houses, 'cause they are firmer and flexible during a telluric movement

I don’t like these houses in my country we make a house from large bricks stuffed between metal columns all on thick base of concrete and iron rods and we do the exterior finishing by stones, however we don’t have environmental crisis and the houses cost almost same as in USA

House in 8 minutes is impressive, but I would invest the extra 10 seconds next time to make a foundation.
Moos P. (7 days ago)
In America only obviously. 0:18 is the time where you can see it.
Luxubu2020 (7 days ago)
+Moos P.Where do they do that?
Moos P. (7 days ago)
@Luxubu2020 Obvisouly you aren't, they set the wall elements directly onto the pebbles, which surely isn't a good long term solution.
