I should have watched you vids for motivation 2 years ago. I was just starting out as CNA on 2015. I paced myself to achieve the goal and not giving up no matter how many rejections I had in Nursing school. Now, I am starting my job as RN. I am now finding these vids now. I love your Motivational Vids.

I never finished high school but I'm going back in a month . In the mean time I start CNA classes in 2 weeks my goal is to be an RN or NP but I'm so scared that because i dropped out in my senior year and my grades were the best that I won't be able to go further than cna . What should I do

The beginning brought tears to my eyes because I could relate to the girl and her grandmother and dealing with anxiety, I’m also a CNA rn and I’m 20 yrs old and I’m planning on going to nursing school to become a Registered Nurse so I could really relate to what she’s going through and it’s not easy 😔

I was working several dead end jobs and lost my self-esteem from difficulties in my early 20s. I didn't think I was good enough nor smart to be a nurse. Recently, I've gained enough courage and confidence to return to college and pursue nursing once again. Earlier this month, I've received my acceptance letter to nursing school for this coming fall!! Thank you for being a positive role model for many of us. When I was sad and discourage, I always listened to your videos to uplift me. You are awesome! Thank you :)

you touched my heart. I think I'm going to cry. :'( I really needed to watch this video. I've been struggling getting through nursing school for the past 2 years, I've been in the RN program and remediated and put in lvn and remediated. I've felt like a failure like I was never going to be good enough to move on and finally achieve that nursing license. Until one day I spoke with my psychological counselor at school and she recommended that I work as a cna for about a year and until I feel comfortable and confident I can go to the next step and try nursing school again. I just hate feeling like I don't know what I'm doing in clinical, lost, confused, paranoid and scared that I'm doing the wrong thing and that the teachers are watching me and marking me wrong for everything. I felt like a deer in a headlight. I hated it so much! I want to be confident, independent, and make the right decisions with my best judgement when I go back into nursing school. So by watching this video made me feel so much better that by getting a job as a CNA it can benefit me in the long run. I'm so happy and fortunate to aquire this job in the new year, working with loving caring and helpful nurses and staff. It's gonna be a little shaker at first, but I really think this is what I needed and shouldve done. Because I wasn't sure what to do after I finished my prerequisites. I was thinking of the cna route first, but before I could try, I got accepted into nursing school. But, any who, here's wishing and praying for a wonderful year of learning and experience that will lead to a better stronger future! :D

I love the "clean version" of your journey LOL!!!!!!.....I am a newly licensed RN. For me, along my journey everything that could've went wrong....did! As you mentioned I saw and believed the end goal for myself....I saw it, felt it, ate, cried and felt like dying a million times in the process but I DID IT! Your video is very encouraging and I will look forward to a new goal. I feel if I can do that (Surviving nursing school and passing NCLEX) I can do much more....thank you for your inspiration!

Nurse Linda, thank you for the words of encouragement. 5 years ago, I was scrubbing toilets in the hospital I work at now. A year later, I was a CNA. I've been on the floor for four years while working my way through school. In a month, I will be leaving and moving to Florida State University for my BSN. Anything is possible.

Thank you thank you thank you for sharing this video!!! It has given me so much motivation and courage to pursue my dreams that I have tried to ignore for yeeeaarrsss due to self-doubt and gear of failure. Do you think I should get my CNA license while I complete my prerequisites and apply for school? It would be a pay cut for me but I really want to get started working in the field and get that experience under my belt but I'm wondering if it's even worth it. Any advice for me?
Nurse Lada (2 years ago)
Thank you for your kind comment😭 And stop doubting yourself☺️ We give so many people in our lives "chances" but we fail to give our selves a chance! I use to do the same thing. I'm glad you are giving yourself a chance to be great. Congrats! Keep in touch😘

Hello Faith! I've always felt that my experience as a nursing assistant made me a better nurse because then I understood how difficult that job was. I was always the nurse that showered patients, took them to the bathroom, helped the CNA's with transfers and personal care because I knew the job was stressful. They had mad respect for me as a nurse because I was willing to get down and dirty with them. I didn't leave patients in bed with wet diapers and tell them "The CNA will be in shortly." Lol. So (with all of that being said) being a nursing assistant first helps BUT it is not necessary. They will teach you personal care your first semester in nursing school, so you may be better off keeping the higher paying job, that way if you ever need to drop a day or something - you will have that option. Keep the job that will work with your school schedule. The extra money may be a good thing if you ever need to cut back on hours 😉

I am in nursing school now and I am a CNA and I struggle with not wanting to take out too much loans and I made the decision about a week ago for my August session to take out the extra loans so I can focus on school more and not work so much so I can finish and become that RN BSN. Thank you this made me feel more sound about my decision and how badly I wanted this.
Nurse Lada (2 years ago)
Hello Devon! I use to worry about loans too but not anymore! Loan repayment is everything! You are making a great decision. It's sooooooo worth it ☺️

I came across this video and I am now awaiting to take NCLEX. I started out as a CNA in 2006 and wanted to go to nursing school. Most nurses would say do respiratory therapy or medical assist. It really discouraged me, but in the end with hard work and many years later I finally finished!!! Thank you for using your platform for younger people. They say the nurses eat their young, they also eat their CNA's.

Jawan Brown (2 years ago)
First of all.... Let me start by saying wow! That black does not crack honey! I love your video. I am a 23 year old single father. I was able to relate to you, because I remember flipping burgers at McDonalds when I was 17. I took the military route, so my schooling has been, for the most part paid for. I entered college at 21 and spent 2 years working on undergrad prerequisites before deciding to do nursing. I am currently in my 2nd of a 5 semester program at the local tech school pursuing my RN. Once completed I plan to return to the previous institution and complete an RN-BSN bridge 11 month program. This is the point where I can foresee a major choice. NP or MD???? I am currently studying for the MCAT and have plans to take it this fall. But I would like to know from your own experience, whether it would be worth it to subject myself to the torture that is applying, getting accepted, completing Medical school and thats not to mention residency. I have always had dreams of becoming a doctor, and would be the first in my family. However, a DNP could be an alternate route to that goal. I just don't want to feel like I took the "easy" (still not that easy) way out by not attending med school. If I chose the NP route......Respect? Autonomy? Research? Compensation? Overall Satisfaction? I too like to talk as you can see... please help though!
Clover Clover (1 year ago)
Jawan Brown Go for MD! If that doesn't work go for NP. If that doesn't work do PA. I've seen a couple youtube vids where BSN's go for their MD. I heard it had a different treatment of their students in a good way. Look into it! Do research see if you like that pathway...

This is amazing. I'm 17 and thinking about enrolling into a CNA program this summer! I was having a lot of doubts in myself because of my age and my poor social skills but this gave me the encouragement I needed! Thank you so much. My dream is to become a Nurse Practitioner one day!

Tamoiya Hill (2 years ago)
thank you for this video. I am a cna now, I just finished my prerequisites and waiting to do the teas so I can get into nursing school. my only problem is the school I really want to attend cost too much and I don't have it financially. should I still attend and take out loans? I just don't know how to go about taking out loans.
Clover Clover (1 year ago)
Tamoiya Hill Can u give me advice? I am just about to get my CNA and I haven't even begun to take my prerequisites? How long did it take you to complete them and did you do part time or full time student for prerequisites?
Nurse Lada (2 years ago)
+Tamoiya Hill Most students have to take out loans, so if that were the only way I could go to school - I would do it without hesitation! ; ) You could start by scheduling an appt with a financial aid counselor. They will tell you what you need to do to take out student loans or to apply for financial aid. Let me know how it goes!

THANK YOU! once again, you have inspired me, hehe.  I dont think you've made a vid about this, what do you think people should write on an admission essay for those who struggled with life that resulted in bad grades, failures etc. -or- struggled with classes period.  Maybe it'll help those that are discouraged from applying to nursing school bec of not looking good on paper.  When in actuality, its the struggle and life lessons that fuels the fire to pursue the dream of being a nurse.
Nurse Lada (2 years ago)
On my admission essay I talked about my goals and my struggles. They want to know who you are and why you want to be a nurse practitioner. If my grades etc looked bad on paper then yes, I would explain it. They will most definitely ask....😉
BlackButterfly (2 years ago)
This was great advice! The envisioning was what I did the most.. I climbed the ladder also (CNA, LPN, RN, BSN, MSN). Being a Family Nurse Practitioner is great, and I find myself enjoying the teaching aspect of it more. People honestly don't know a lot regarding healthcare, and being able to explain it to them and watch that "Ah Ha Moment"...is priceless!!! :O)
Almaretta Jordan (1 year ago)
High Kitty yes please answer this somebody ☝🏾☝🏾☝🏾☝🏾☝🏾
High Kitty (1 year ago)
BlackButterfly I know this is a year old but how long did that take you to do all of that? My plan is become a cna then lpn then finally rn but I don't know if I want to get a bsn. Is it worth it? I'm scared of loans like most young people.
