How to Make Fun Tissue Paper Poms for a Spring Baby Shower | Pottery Barn Kids

02:06
A creative mix of fun and colorful ideas are just what you need for a fantastic baby shower. In this video, party stylist Kim Stoegbauer from The TomKat Studio demonstrates how to make tissue paper poms for a baby shower. If you have a few supplies like a scissor, pencil, ruler, ribbon and a tissue paper handy, then this easy-to-do demonstration will be much simpler. Start by deciding on the shade and choose a color that best matches your color scheme. Kim starts by placing twelve tissue papers of the same size on the work surface. With the help of a ruler, she marks about one and a half inches and starts folding the paper back and forth. After doing that, she folds the paper into half and ties a double knot exactly in the centre. She then cuts the edges to give it a rounded form around the sides. The papers are then opened in opposite directions to create a wonderful, fluffy pom. You can hang these attractive paper poms just about anywhere. Whether it is a baby shower or a themed party, these fun paper poms are sure to catch your guests' attention! Did you try making these at home? How To: Cute Cupcake Dressings for a Sunshine Baby Shower | Pottery Barn Kids

02:20
In this Pottery Barn Kids video, Party Stylist from The TomKat Studio, Kim Stoegbauer demonstrates some creative ideas for spring baby showers. She uses printables that she has designed to make cupcakes appear all the more of a tempting treat. Here, Kim shares with us two printable designs, a cupcake wrapper and a cupcake topper to dress up these party essentials. She starts by directing us to the printable templates available for the wrapper as well as the topper on the Pottery Barn Kids website and asks us to download them before we begin. Use scrapbook paper featuring fun, colorful patterns that match your baby shower theme. Kim begins on the cupcake wrapper by printing out the template using colored paper. Then, she proceeds to cut it out. Finally, Kim assembles the cupcake wrapper by securing the ends using double-sided tape and simply drops the cupcake in for a cute, charming look. For the second set of printables, she has the templates for the cupcake topper printed and she cuts the paper into columns to get square toppers. She then, uses a stylized paper punch from The TomKat Studio to add a decorative flourish to the cupcake topper. She attaches lollipop sticks to the back of the printed side of the topper using white circle labels which are easily available at office supply stores. She suggests displaying the finished cupcakes on a pretty cake stand to act as your table centerpiece. You can use these simple tips to adorn your cupcakes and create a sweet spring shower delight. How To Make A Fairy Birthday Party Flower Crown | Pottery Barn Kids

02:09
Hosting a fairy themed birthday party for your precious little daughter is a great idea. Little girls are fascinated by the magical charm of fairies; you can also dress her like one on her birthday. In this Pottery Barn Kids video, stylist Kelli Ronci demonstrates how to make a beautiful flower fairy crown for your little one. For preparing a flower crown, Kelli takes a crown wire of about 21 inches and little buckets with feather butterflies, paper flowers and also some fresh flowers. She prepares a crown base by rounding the crown wire and overlapping the ends for about three inches and then twisting them together. Next, she wraps the stray ends of the wire around to create little gaps so that flowers can be easily placed in between. Kelli then takes two 30 inches, thin satin ribbons and two paper leaf ribbons. She folds the satin ribbons into half and loops them around the crown base. She also attaches the paper leaf ribbons in a similar manner. For decorating the flower crowns, she places individual flowers and butterflies in the gaps. How did your flower crowns look when they were complete? How To Install Curtains | Pottery Barn Kids

02:15
In this video from Pottery Barn Kids, learn how to install blackout panels in your child's room or nursery. These kids' window treatments from Pottery Barn Kids aid in restful sleep and refreshing naps by blocking out light and reducing noise. The kids' blackout curtains are easy to install and all you need for this DIY project is: a Philips-head screwdriver, a drill, a measuring tape, a level and a pencil. The first step is to determine the look you wish to achieve with your kids' window treatments. You can mount the kids' blackout curtains above the window trim for a dramatic look that visually expands the window size. For highlighting the window's architectural details such as molding, install the panels directly to the trim. Next, measure the width of the window to determine the length of your curtain rod. If you are mounting the kids' blackout curtains above the trim, add six to eight inches to the window's width. Consider the size of the finials as some of the large finials from Pottery Barn Kids can take up to four to five inches of space. The third step is measuring the length for the size of window panels you will need. Choose window hardware and coverings based on your measurements. Select the right-sized rod and finials that complement the room's decor. If you wish to create layered kids' window treatments with sheers, you will need double-rod wall brackets and hardware. A double add-on kit from Pottery Barn Kids, which includes wall brackets and a rod for the back panel is perfect for this project. It can hold an exterior and interior panel so you can pair a sheer curtain with your blackout panel. After installing the rod and panels, add holdbacks to draw the panels for a neat look. It's easy to install them as Pottery Barn Kids offer them as a set. Visit the Pottery Barn Kids website or store for further information. Did you install kids' window treatments at home? How to Make Paper Medallions for a Young Explorer's Birthday Party | Pottery Barn Kids

02:21
Celebrate your child's birthday party with a unique theme this year. Opt for a young explorer's birthday party theme and decorate your home or outdoor area with paper medallions and other craft pieces that are easy to make. In this Pottery Barn Kids video, Kim Stoegbauer, party stylist from the TomKat Studio shows us how to make a paper medallion with the help of maps and other craft supplies. To make the paper medallion, you will need a map, scissors, a hot glue gun, a circle cutter, a ruler and a pencil. Begin by making a 12 inch medallion, and cut 8,6x6 inch pieces from the map. Take a ruler and a pencil and measure ¾ inches for the first fold. Use the mark for the first fold and continue folding back and forth in accordion style. Take the hot glue gun and glue all the papers to form a circle. Push down the center of the medallion to create a circular shape and apply hot glue at the center to hold the pleats together. Next, cut a circle out of a map with the help of a circle cutter and glue it to the center of the medallion. Decorate or hang these medallions with ribbon or twine at different heights to create a decorative look for your child's birthday party. What other ways did you celebrate your young explorer? Lee tells us that he is always looking for new ways to tell stories and it was during one of such instances that he stumbled upon the character of Spider-Man. Stan Lee wanted a character that could climb on the walls, crawl and jump spaces. Initially he had names like insect man and mosquito man in mind, but they did not sound dramatic. Finally, Lee thought of the name Spider-Man which not only sounded dramatic, but had qualities that he wanted in his animated character. According to Lee, young people have a great imagination and sense of humor, that's why characters like Peter Parker and Spider-Man are highly popular. What excites Lee the most is the ability of his animated characters to do dramatic things which always keep the readers and viewers interested. How to Create Bibs for Baby's First Birthday Party | Pottery Barn Kids

03:22
If it is your baby's first birthday party and you want it to be special, here are some tips to follow. In this video, Pottery Barn Kids Stylist, Kelli Ronci tells us how to make bibs inspired from Eric Carle's famous children's book "The Very Hungry Caterpillar". Each fruit bib is easy to make and requires no sewing skills. You will need half yard of white fabric and polka dot fabric, fabric scissors, pinking shears, an iron, iron-on adhesive, iron-on fastener tape and iron-on vinyl coating. Place the polka dot fabric on a flat surface and keep the iron-on paper adhesive over it. Both the fabric and the adhesive paper should be 11x14 inches. Heat the iron and press down the adhesive paper gently on the fabric. Download and print the bib template from the Pottery Barn Kids website. Trace the outline of the bib on the paper back of the adhesive and cut out the center and the border. Peel the paper from the border and lay it on the white fabric. Fuse the border to the white fabric by ironing it, but don't cut it as yet. Trace the fruit outline on the paper back of the centerpiece and cut it out. Peel the adhesive from the cut fruit shape and place it in the center of the border on the white fabric. Iron it to fuse it on the white fabric. Trace the bib template on the paper back of the iron-on vinyl coating. Cut around the outside of the pattern leaving about an inch around the border. Do not cut the neck. Peel the paper backing and place the vinyl piece on the bib. Now place the paper backing back on the vinyl, shining side down and iron it. Repeat all over and remove the paper. Turn the fabric over and iron the back side. Cut the bib with pinking shears and cut the neck using regular fabric scissors. Cut a small piece of iron-on Velcro tape and fuse to the ends of the neck tab. The fruit bibs make great party favors and will surely be handy during a birthday party. How to Create Plaster Sand Casts | Pottery Barn Kids

01:43
If you want to spend some quality time with your kids, creating plaster sand casts with them on a beach is a great idea. In this Pottery Barn Kids video, Stylist, Kelly Ronci demonstrates how to create beautiful plaster sand casts. Sand casting is very easy. Kids can start by searching shells on a beach. Get ready to make the casts by making a flat and smooth area in the sand. The children can use their buckets to make circles in the flattened area and place the found shells in the circles using their imagination. After placing them in the sand, build up a wall around the circle to help contain the plaster. Making handprints and footprints is another great idea. You can tell your kids to press their hands or feet on the flattened area and remove vertically in one motion. Make plaster in a beach bucket and pour it into the shapes using a cup. Allow them to dry for 45 minutes to an hour. Carefully remove the masterpieces created by your kids. Gently dust off excess sand and the plaster sand casts are ready to display. How to Create Jellyfish Piñata with Hidden Candies | Pottery Barn Kids

02:31
The free flowing tentacles and shiny texture of the jellyfish fascinates children. Pottery Barn Kids, Stylist, Kelli Ronci shows how to bring a jellyfish to a child's birthday party in the form of a piñata. The piñata is filled with candies, and the lucky kid gets to take all of them by pulling the right tentacle ribbon. Take two wide bowls and use them to create a dome-shape. This is for the head of the jellyfish. It is a good idea to apply petroleum jelly to the bowl. For the underside of the jellyfish, take a medium sized balloon and place paper mache over it. Allow it to dry for 24 hours. Remove the bowl and deflate the balloon. Cut a three inch flap at the bottom of the balloon. Then poke four holes on the top of the balloon. Place the balloon in the bowl and sew through the four holes. Pass a long thread through both the stitches and form a knot. Cover it with newspapers and tape the balloon and bowl together. Paint the whole jellyfish white and paste triangular pieces of metallic crape paper. Fill the balloon with candies and make two holes in the bottom flap. Use ribbons to create tentacles and secure the flap and ribbons with circles of white crape paper. Your piñata is ready and can be enjoyed by children at a birthday party. How to Make Cinnamon Kettle Corn with Katie Morford | Pottery Barn Kids

04:26
If you are running out of time, make this easy and healthy recipe to satiate those hunger pangs. In this video, Katie Morford, a registered dietitian and mom of two, demonstrates how to make a quick and healthy Cinnamon Kettle Corn recipe. This recipe is easy and fun, and can be made along with your kids. Katie starts by taking one quarter cup of corn and seals it in a brown paper bag. The ends of the paper bag are sealed well, so the popcorns don't come out and ensures no mess. She places the brown paper bag inside the microwave for about 2 ½ to 3 minutes or until the popcorn has popped. Katie then adds 2 tablespoons of melted butter, 2 teaspoons of sugar, ½ teaspoon of salt and sprinkles some cinnamon on top. Katie's daughters mix the popcorn with their hands to ensure that all the ingredients have mixed well. Your cinnamon kettle corn is ready. With this easy recipe, you can offer fun food to your children. The popcorn can be put in a Pottery Barn Kids container, so that it stays fresh throughout the day! How to Choose the Right Backpack | Pottery Barn Kids

02:41
Backpacks are a great way of carrying books and supplies to school. In this video, Rachel, a Designer with Pottery Barn Kids, tells us how to choose the right backpack for your child. Rachel talks about the various backpack collection that Pottery Barn Kids offers. Pottery Barn Kids has three collections of backpacks with the Mackenzie and Fairfax topping the popularity charts. Each backpack collection comes in pre-k, 7 plus and 10 plus sizes. These backpacks come with a laptop pocket, an MP3 pocket and an opening for earphones. The Fairfax collection is classic, peppy and functional. It has extended zipper pulls and metal rings as an additional feature. The Mackenzie collection is available in bright prints and bold colors. It has clips in the front of the bag, so you can attach a lunch bag, towel or coat. It also has padded back panels for added comfort. According to Rachel, it is important for kids to use both straps while carrying backpacks as it helps to distribute the weight equally. She also suggests that while packing a backpack, the heavy items should be packed first. Backpacks should not be very heavy for the kids to carry around. According to the American Association of Pediatrics, a child should carry no more than 15% of his body weight. In other words, a child of 60 lbs should carry weight of around 9 lbs and not more. If the child has to carry more supplies, Rachel suggests using the rolling backpacks. Rachel also tells us that a backpack should not be wider than the child's torso and it should not hang lower than four inches below the waist for comfort and safety concerns. Healthy Lunch | Pottery Barn Kids

05:56
Every parent wants to feed healthy and tasty food to their child. In this video, Pottery Barn Kids Nutritionist, Leith Brooks shows us some delicious yet wholesome recipes which can be added to the kid's lunch box. Seasonal fruits and vegetables served with wholegrain breads provide your child with energy and stabilize their blood sugar levels at lunch. Make a roasted chicken sandwich with cucumber slices, cheese and lettuce and cut it into a star shape for fun. A wholegrain wrap is another balanced meal where you can use leftovers and add nutrition to your kid's diet. Roll the wrap with white beans, brown rice, colorful veggies like cherry tomatoes and chopped lettuce. You can also cook a healthy soup using protein-rich beans, carrots, onions, tomatoes, swiss chards, whole wheat pasta and pour it into the Pottery Barn Kids' hot-cold food containers. For dessert, give your child freshly sliced fruits instead of chocolate. It is a healthy option for a sweet treat for your child and provides great nutrition. Prepare a yogurt dip that's sweetened with maple syrup and cinnamon powder. Use the Pottery Barn Kids Klean Kanteens and fill it with water and add slices of orange or lemon, or whatever that your child prefers. Sharing Spaces with Children | Pottery Barn Kids

02:10
Deborah Needleman, Editor-in-chief of Domino Magazine describes the things one should keep in mind while designing a shared space with kids. In the video, Deborah says that among the things you need to consider while styling your room are how you live, what your family's needs are and how the shared space can be used effectively to make room for everyone. Deborah's kids have individual rooms that reflect their personalities. Her son's room needs a lot of storage area due to the clutter that can form in the room. Deborah's daughter is meticulous and her space is organized and neat. A minimalist by nature, Deborah designs her living room keeping in mind that it is a shared space with kids and gives her children a play area where they can enjoy. The rest of the living room has an aura that is serious and adult-like where she is able to entertain guests. Another novel idea expressed is that of finding beauty in "unfinished" décor that tends to exude a warm, homey feeling which is an integral part a of a shared space with kids. Adjustable Crib for Your Baby | Pottery Barn Kids

01:13
Every parent thinks about the comfort and safety of their child. As they grow-up, their needs increase and change from time to time. This Pottery Barn Kids video is a tutorial that will teach you how to adjust a crib base effortlessly. This video showcases the Pottery Barn Kids adjustable cribs, which are designed to create a secure resting place for growing babies. Its simple construction is favorable for the safety of your baby. Once your baby graduates from a bassinet to a crib, he needs more attention and care. The first thing you need to ensure is that the side rails of the adjustable crib are high enough for your baby. All you need is the Allen key to adjust the base of the crib. You will also need the assistant of another adult. First, unscrew one of the fixed side rails of the crib using the Allen key that is provided along with the crib. With the assistance of an adult, disassemble the rail. Next, use the Allen key to unscrew the crib base and lower it to the desired height and reattach all four sides to the crib post using the screws and the Allen key. Finally, place the side rail back to its original position. Now you can go ahead and place the mattress for your baby that is at a right height and absolutely safe. Nursery Feeding | Pottery Barn Kids

02:00
Feeding your baby is a special time for bonding and nurturing. Newborn babies have to be fed every few hours and it is essential to provide the mother with a comfortable space. Watch and learn how you can provide loving care and firm support to your baby while feeding. It is vital to pick a restful chair for the mother as it helps the baby to cuddle-up with ease. A rocking chair proves to be a good choice because newborn babies quite often fall asleep when they are being fed. Make sure you try out several chairs, check if you can place your arm easily and if it is a natural position for you. Mothers can also rest up their feet on an ottoman accompanying the chair. Pottery Barn Kids Comfort Grand Swivel Glider & Ottoman makes for relaxed seating while nursing. Holding your newborn baby and providing support to your arm while feeding is much easier with the use of a Boppy Nursing Pillow. This is basically a soft U-shaped pillow that goes around the mother's midsection. As the baby grows up, the Boppy Nursing Pillow serves different purposes like providing support to the baby's back or resting your child on its tummy to gain head strength.
